The Benefits of Buying Local
When you shop at the Alachua County Farmers' Market, you are helping the local economy in many ways. Let's see who benefits when you spend your food dollar here.

- Consumers benefit by getting lower prices and fresher produce.
- Farmers benefit by making more money on what they produce.
- Local businesses benefit when the farmers spend the money they made to buy gasoline, clothing, movie tickets, appliances, and everything else they need to live.
- Employees at the businesses where farmers shop benefit when they are paid for producing and selling their goods, giving them the money they need to support themselves and their families.
- Government benefits from the taxes paid on all of those purchases and on the income made by farmers and store employees.
- Everyone benefits from the roads, schools, fire and police protection, and other services government provides.
Every dollar you spend at the farmers market generates $10 of additional economic benefit through what is known as the multiplier effect. Much of that money stays in the local area. Support your local economy - buy local!
